The West Nodaway R-I Board of Education recently denied a request to establish a high school wrestling program, citing concerns about transportation costs. The request was presented by junior high wrestling coach Dallas Barrett during the board’s April 8th meeting, with community members in attendance to show support. However, the board did not allow community members to speak, citing policy restrictions that require advance notice for speakers not on the agenda. Board President Nathan Honan explained the decision to reject the request based on the policy guidelines.
