Savannah author tells story of women’s battle for Title IX equality

A Savannah native and author, Karen Rudolph, will return home to share the story of 11 women’s fight for Title IX equality in college athletics during the 1970s. Rudolph’s book details the challenge led by Jean Cerra and other women from major universities against the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women, which was intended to support women in college sports but faced persistent inequalities. Rudolph, a former athlete, coach, and journalist, also advocated for equal opportunities while attending Savannah High School, pushing for the same athletic opportunities for girls as boys. A book talk with Karen Rudolph is scheduled for 3 p.m. on April 15th at the Savannah Branch of the Rolling Hills Library.
