Iowa honors fallen soldiers after drone strike in Kuwait

Gov. Kim Reynolds has ordered Iowa flags to fly at half-staff in honor of Sgt. Declan Coady and Maj. Jeffrey O’Brien, two Iowa soldiers killed in action in Kuwait. The soldiers were among six Army Reserve members who died in a drone strike in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, following the U.S. and Israel’s military campaign against Iran. Reynolds expressed condolences for the fallen soldiers and their families, urging Iowans to stand united in support. Flags will be flown at half-staff until the soldiers’ interment. O’Brien, a signal officer and cybersecurity professional, is survived by his wife and children, while Coady, a cybersecurity student at Drake University, was known for his kindness and dedication to serving others.
