A Buchanan County jury convicted a Kansas man Thursday of first-degree child molestation for an assault involving a 7-year-old girl nearly 25 years ago.
Robert Haskin was found guilty of the 2001 incident following a trial in which prosecutors alleged he inappropriately touched the child while babysitting her. Although the abuse occurred decades ago, the victim’s repeated statements to various individuals over the years eventually led to formal charges being filed in 2024.
Haskin, who maintained his innocence and pleaded not guilty, was taken into custody following the verdict. He is scheduled to appear before a judge for sentencing on March 27.
