Missouri man killed after head-on crash with a trash truck

CLINTON COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after 6a.m. Thursday in Clinton County. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2015 Toyota Highlander driven by a 22-year-old Lawson man was westbound on Route PP one mile west of U.S. 69 three miles northwest of Lawson.  The SUV traveled into the path of a 2022 Freighliner trash truck driven by a 30-year-old Independence, Missouri woman in the eastbound lane. The vehicles collided head-on. The impact pushed the Toyota into the path of a westbound 2017 GMC Sierra van driven by a 26-year-old Lawson man. The van rear-ended the SUV. 

The SUV driver was pronounced dead at the scene.  Holt ambulance transported the 30-year-old trash truck driver and her 38-year-old male passenger to Liberty Hospital.  The 26-year-old van driver was transported to Truman Medical Center. The MSHP had incomplete seat belt usage details. The Patrol no longer releases names of accident victims.
