Bill sets up state licensing for Iowa kickboxing events

The Iowa Senate has passed a bill that would regulate public kickboxing matches in the state, requiring promoters to be licensed and follow safety guidelines. The legislation aims to ensure consistency between amateur and professional events and bring kickboxing under the same regulations as boxing, wrestling, and mixed martial arts. Once signed into law by the governor, kickboxing promoters will need to submit ticket sales reports and pay a 5% state tax on gross receipts, similar to other combat sports promoters in Iowa.
