MERCER COUNTY —One person died in an accident just before noon Tuesday in Mercer County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2018 Chevy Impala driven by an 84-year-old Chariton, Iowa, man was stopped eastbound on Decal Street at Route P eight miles west of Mercer. The driver failed to yield to a southbound 2013 Chevy 2500 driven by a 48-year-old Cainsville man. The pickup struck the car in the driver’s side.
The Chevy driver was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Roberson Funeral Home. Mercer County ambulance transported the pickup driver to Wayne County Hospital. Both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the MSHP. The Patrol no longer releases names of accident victims.
