Nebraska currently only allows in-person sports betting at commercial casinos, but a new ballot referendum campaign is seeking to legalize online sports wagering. The initiative, led by WarHorse Gaming and the Sports Betting Alliance, aims to collect signatures to put the matter before voters in November. If successful, each casino could operate or partner with up to two online sportsbooks, with tax revenue primarily benefiting homeowners. The campaign must secure support from 10% of registered voters and 5% from 38 counties to move forward. Legalizing online sports betting could further boost the state’s tax revenue from the gaming industry.
