Maryville resident David Howell expressed concerns about a property at 724 Prather Ave. being used as a short-term rental during a recent City Council meeting. Despite a 6-1 recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Council unanimously voted against granting a special-use permit for the property to operate as a short-term rental. The property owner, Danielle Erickson, argued that the rental would not be a party house but rather cater to professionals, university visitors, and families. However, the Council cited zoning regulations and neighborhood opposition as reasons for denying the permit. Similar concerns led to the rejection of a short-term rental permit for another property owned by Jeff and Lisa Yosten.
