Hundreds of people gathered in St. Joseph on Sunday afternoon for a peaceful protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following a deadly shooting by ICE agents in Minnesota.
The protest was held at the intersection of Belt Hwy and Frederick Ave.
The event, organized by Persisterhood, called for accountability and questioned the use of force in the shooting. Protesters highlighted the diverse immigrant community in St. Joseph and expressed concerns about the political divide affecting people’s perceptions of facts.
Many attendees also participated in a vigil in Kansas City, emphasizing the need for solidarity and awareness of potential injustices.
