Attorney General Brenna Bird announced that Iowa has joined a multistate settlement with home improvement retailer Menards to resolve claims regarding the company’s “11% rebate” program.

The settlement addresses allegations from 2020 that the company marketed the program in a misleading manner. Under the agreement, Iowa is set to receive nearly $447,000.

As part of the resolution, Menards has committed to several changes in how it handles consumer rebates including clear disclosures, extended deadlines, faster tracking and more transparency to their return policy.

The legal action was a collaborative effort involving several states. Along with Iowa, the attorneys general of Arizona, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin participated in the settlement.
